Adirondack Phantoms News Release
PHILADELPHIA - The Philadelphia Phantoms announced two transactions today, adding a pair of forwards to the roster. Centerman Blake Bellefeuille was signed to an American Hockey League (AHL) contract, while left wing Ryan Ready was returned to the club from the Phantoms National Hockey League (NHL) affiliate, the Flyers.
Bellefeuille, pronounced BELL-fay, was signed today after participating in five games this season for the AHL's Hartford Wolf Pack and 20 for the ECHL's Charlotte Checkers. With the Pack, he had a goal and an assist (1/1/2), adding to his totals of seven goals and 10 assists in Charlotte (7/10/17). The Framingham, MA native is in his seventh season as a professional, beginning his career with the Syracuse Crunch in 2000. He has also seen time in the AHL with Providence, Norfolk and Bridgeport, amassing 34 goals and 86 points in 260 regular season AHL games: 260(34/52/86). Originally signed as a free agent by Columbus after four years at Boston College, Bellefeuille has skated in five NHL games, all with the Blue Jackets. He has one assist in those games. Bellefeuille, who turned 28 last Thursday (12/22), is expected to be available for Friday's 7:05 pm faceoff against the Sound Tigers.
Ready has been dispatched back to the Phantoms after making his NHL debut on Nov. 29 in a road game against the New York Islanders. He was sidelined in that contest, re-aggravating an injury that originally had him out of the lineup from the preseason until Nov. 25. He then played two games for the Phantoms, scoring one goal and was subsequently recalled by the Flyers for his NHL unveiling. Ready is in his seventh season as a pro and was a member of Philadelphia's 2005 Calder Cup Championship team.
The Phantoms return to the ice tomorrow night, Dec. 30, when they host the Bridgeport Sound Tigers at the Wachovia Spectrum. John Slaney enters the game needing just ONE point to become the AHL's all-time leading scoring defenseman. Tickets for the game are on sale now. Purchase on line at phantomshockey.com or to charge by phone, call (215) 336-2000, (856) 338-9000 or (302) 984-2000. As always, all kids tickets for all Phantoms games are just $8.
