
Lambert, Roy Lead \'Dogs to Victory

Hamilton, ON - The Hamilton Bulldogs scored three power play goals en route to a 4-1 victory over the Rochester Americans in front of 5,702 fans on Thursday night at Copps Coliseum. Michael Lambert and Mathieu Roy each had a goal and two assists in the victory. The win was the first for the Bulldogs over the Americans in four meetings this season and improved the club's record to 13-21-0-2.
The game remained scoreless after one period of play, with Rochester out-shooting the Bulldogs 10-7.
At 11:32 of the second period, Bulldog defenseman James Sanford opening the scoring with his team on the power play. Sanford received a cross-ice pass from Roy, and took a slap shot from the point, beating Amerks goaltender Jean-Marc Pelletier over his glove.
Hamilton extended their lead to 2-0 at the 16:58 mark of the second period with the man advantage. Roy came in from the point and one-timed a Lambert pass from the circle over Pelletier's shoulder. Maxim Lapierre also assisted on the goal.
Rochester cut the lead to one goal at 5:00 of the third period. A wrap-around attempt by Amerks forward Stefan Meyer beat Bulldogs goaltender Yann Danis, who was sliding across the crease on the play. The goal was unassisted.
Hamilton regained their two-goal lead 1:30 later when Michael Lambert scored his eighth goal of the season on the power play. Sanford's initial shot from the point was stopped, and sat loose in the crease behind Pelletier. Lambert came in from the side and shot the puck into the empty net.
Bulldogs forward Raitis Ivanans rounded out the scoring at 7:59 of the third period when he shot his own rebound up and over Pelletier. Francis Lemieux and Duncan Milroy drew assists on Ivanans' second goal of the season.
Bulldogs goaltender Danis stopped 19 shots for Hamilton to earn the victory, while Pelletier made 26 saves for Rochester.
Hamilton was 3 for 11 on the power play, while Rochester went 0 for 8 with the man advantage.
Hamilton's next action will take place on Friday, December 30 when they travel to Grand Rapids to face the Griffins. Game time is 7:00 p.m. The Bulldogs next home game will be Wednesday, January 4, when Grand Rapids will travel to Hamilton. Game time is 7:30.
