Maine Celtics News Release

KISSIMMEE, FL - JD Davison, DJ Steward, and Joe Wieskamp combined for 78 points to power the Maine Celtics to a season-best fourth-straight victory, downing the Osceola Magic, 122-106.

Wieskamp scored 25 points on 9-12 shooting with career-highs of seven made 3-pointers and 14 rebounds to lead Maine (15-11). DJ Steward poured in 28 points, his fourth consecutive game with 20 or more points, and dished out seven assists. JD Davison put up 25 points, 12 assists and three steals for his 20th double-double of the season. Drew Peterson had 10 points and six rebounds and James Banks III tallied 10 and seven rebounds.

Jett Howard led Osceola (14-8) with 20 points and Trevelin Queen turned in 18 points, five rebounds and five assists. Miye Oni chipped in 15 points and Mac McClung posted 14 points, seven rebounds and six assists. D.J. Wilson totaled 12 points and six boards.

Steward scored five early points as the Celtics opened the game on a 9-0 run, with Queen getting Osceola on the board with a mid-range jumper. The Magic offense got going after that, but Maine was highly efficient out of the gates as Davison scored nine of the team's first 11 and then assisted on a Wieskamp three. Brandon Slater followed up with a three of his own to push Maine's lead to double digits, 24-13. Steward and Davison took turns holding the reigns in the first - 11 points from Steward, Davison's nine and five assists between the two powered the Celtics offense in the first. DaeQwon Plowden and Howard sank back-to-back threes late in the quarter, kicking off a 14-0 run for the Magic over the final three minutes and 26 seconds to trim their deficit to three, 30-27 heading into the second.

Jordan Jackson stopped the bleeding for Maine with a hanging layup, finishing another on the next trip to help shift the momentum back towards the Celtics as the second quarter began. An 11-2 run put the Celtics up by nine, 45-36, though Osceola responded with six unanswered to pull back within one possession. Howard's tip-in later in the frame gave the Magic their first lead of the night, 55-54, but Maine ended the half on a 9-4 run to regain the lead and take a 63-61 advantage into the break.

After trading leads as the third quarter got underway, a high-flying dunk from Queen gave Osceola the lead back. The Magic spent the third working the ball inside, utilizing the driving and finishing of Queen and McClung while the Celtics got three triples from Wieskamp, who sat at a perfect 5-5 from downtown through the early portion of the frame. With Maine leading 75-74, the Celtics outscored the Magic 19-12 through the rest of the quarter to rebuild their lead, 94-86. Wieskamp finished with 14 points in the quarter to give Maine the advantage with 12 minutes to go.

The Magic got as close as five at the outset of the fourth quarter, but it wasn't long before Steward sank a pair of triples with a Banks hook shot in between to put Maine back ahead by double digits, 104-94, with a lightning-quick 8-2 run. Weiskamp's seventh three of the night made it a 13-point game inside the four-minute mark, and the Celtics held serve from there to earn a fourth-straight win and put an end to Osceola's seven-game streak.

The Celtics have the next six days off before heading back out on the road for a two-game set with the Delaware Blue Coats.
