Stockton Kings Give Oklahoma City the Blues in 121-107 Victory

The Stockton Kings, the NBA G League affiliate of the Sacramento Kings (12-6), conquered the Oklahoma City Blue (9-10), 121-107 on Saturday evening at Adventist Health Arena (formerly Stockton Arena).

Stockton Kings guard Dane Goodwin led the Kings with a season-high 30 points, seven rebounds, three assists, one steal, and a block. Forward Jalen Slawson notched a double-double, finishing with 18 points, 13 rebounds, two assists, a steal, and one block. Forward Deonte Burton recorded 18 of his own points and pulled down seven rebounds, tallied three assists, two steals, and a block. Guard Mason Jones registered a double-double, posting 17 points, 10 assists, seven rebounds, and a block. Forward Stanley Johnson hit a smooth 16 points off the bench.

The Oklahoma City Blue was led by guard Jaden Shackelford, who totaled 30 points, two assists, and a steal. Forward Keyontae Johnson followed up with 25 points, four rebounds, two assists, and a block. Their bench combined for 44 points, with guards Jahmi'us Ramsey and Adam Flagler doing most of the heavy lifting scoring 14 points and 16 points, respectively.

Goodwin's layup set the stage for the Kings 9-0 run and the team finished the quarter 26-24, never trailing in the frame. In the second quarter, the Blue had an early 10-0 run, snapped by Goodwin's consecutive scores. Both teams equally capitalized off foul trouble, finishing 83.3% (5-for-6) from the free throw line, respectively. However, Oklahoma City's shooting struggles persisted averaging 37.8% from the field in the first half.

In the third quarter, Goodwin shot 100% from the field, two of those from beyond the arc, pushing the Kings toward their biggest lead of the night at 16 points in the second half. Shackelford and Johnson did their best to help close the deficit, each scoring 15 points. Shackelford shot 50% from the field, with five of those coming from beyond the arc, but the team was still held to 37.5% from three. Their efforts proved futile as they struggled to keep the ball in their possession, allowing Stockton to bucket 19 points off their turnovers, trailing the entire second half.

The Stockton Kings will hit the road to face off against the South Bay Lakers at UCLA Health Training Center on Wednesday, February 14 at 7:00 PM PST.
