Lynx prepare for Grrrowl tonight
November 29, 2005 - ECHL (ECHL)
Augusta Lynx News Release
As the Lynx prepare to face off against the Grrrowl tonight at 7:05 pm in Greenville, all nine players who were affected by a previous United States Citizenship and Immigration Services ruling are once again eligible to play.
Nicholas Corbeil, Phil Cole, Ryan Lang, Martin Lapointe, Brian Passmore, Joe Pereira, and Dan Sullivan will return to the Lynx this evening, while Doug Wright remains on the 30-Day IR for tonight's contest. Also, the Lynx placed defenseman Steve LeCuyer on waivers Tuesday.
"It's obviously a huge relief to have this issue finally behind us," said Lynx general manager Rob Mueller. "Our staff worked tirelessly this past week to resolve this issue, but getting this worked out as quickly as we did wouldn't have been possible without the help of several U.S. Senators and Congressmen and their staffs. On behalf of the Lynx organization, words cannot describe how grateful we are for their assistance."
"I can't say enough about the job Fergie and the players did last weekend by not only weathering the storm, but coming away with four out of six points. Winning two of those three games last week is a tribute to Bob, to the regular players we had in the lineup, and to the replacement players who came in to help us out through this difficult stretch. There's also a lot to be said about the character of the nine Canadian players affected by this immigration issue. These players displayed a tremendous amount of patience, support and professionalism throughout this ordeal."
The Lynx would once again like to thank the following authorities for their pivotal role in helping the team achieve a resolution to this matter: U.S. Seantor Jim DeMint (S.C), U.S. Senator Saxby Chambliss (Ga.), U.S. Senator Johnny Isakson (Ga.), U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham (S.C.); U.S. Representative Charlie Norwood (Ga.), U.S. Representative John Barrow (Ga.), U.S. Representative J. Gresham Barrett; United States Ambassador to Canada David H. Wilkins; Canadian Ambassador to the United States Frank McKenna; Consulate General of Canada Malcolm McKechnie; Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue; South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford.
The Lynx will play Tuesday in Greenville against the Grrrowl, returning home Wednesday for a bout with the Pensacola Ice Pilots at 7:05 pm. The Classic Stucco and Stone Pre-Game Show kicks off one half-hour before game time on your Home for Lynx Hockey, NEWSTALKSPORTS 1630.
