
Mitchell Worked 1000th Game Saturday

SAN DIEGO -Gulls Head Equipment Manager Matt Mitchell celebrated his 1,000th professional game worked Saturday when San Diego hosted the Stockton Thunder. He was honored pre-game by Gulls owner Ron Hahn.
Mitchell, 29, is in his sixth season as the Gulls' head equipment manager after joining the club in 2000-01. Last season he was selected to work at the 2005 ECHL All-Star Game.
A native of Binghamton, N.Y., Mitchell has also been an equipment manager for the American Hockey League's Binghamton Rangers and Western Professional Hockey League's New Mexico Scorpions. He also spent two seasons as the assistant equipment manager of the NHL's New York Rangers.
Mitchell was worked 413 games during his Gulls stint, which includes all playoff games.
The Gulls continue their longest homestand of the year with two games this weekend against the Johnstown Chiefs. Saturday's game, which starts at 7:05 p.m., is "Survive the Holidays" night and Gulls hiking water bottles will be given away. Sunday's contest against Johnstown begins at 5:05 p.m. and will be another Kids Night, featuring "Skate with the Gulls" immediately afterward. San Diego closes out the homestand Friday, Dec. 9 vs. Phoenix.
