Clinton LumberKings News Release

Clinton, IA - The Clinton LumberKings continue their blistering start to the second half with a 6-3 win over the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers. The LumberKings rode a pair of home runs from Taylor Ard and Dario Pizzano, along with a stellar start from Matt Anderson, to their fourth straight victory.

Clinton jumped out to an early lead in the first inning. Ketel Marte got the inning going with a double down the right field line to extend his hitting streak to 14 games. After a walk to Dario Pizzano, Taylor Ard delivered a two-out two-run single to open the scoring.

The Timber Rattlers and LumberKings traded punches with solo home runs for each club. Tyrone Taylor cut Clinton's lead in half with a solo blast in the second inning to make it 2-1.

The LumberKings put their own power on display in the fifth and sixth innings. Taylor Ard launched his fifth home run of the season to put Clinton back on top by two runs. In the next inning, Dario Pizzano matched his teammate with his own solo home run, also his fifth of the year.

After the LumberKings extended their lead to 6-1 with a pair of runs in the sixth inning, Wisconsin made a comeback bid in the seventh. The Timber Rattlers loaded the bases off Matt Vedo, who exited with an apparent right leg injury trying to field a slow roller. Jochi Ogando entered and limited the damage to two runs to keep the LumberKings ahead 6-3.

Ogando closed out the victory with scoreless eighth and ninth innings for his first career save. Matt Anderson improved to 4-6 with his team-high seventh quality start. Anderson scattered eight hits over six innings, allowing a single run to score. Eric Semmelhack dropped to 1-4 with the loss for Wisconsin.

The LumberKings and Timber Rattlers continue the four-game series with game three on Thursday at Ashford University Field. Clinton turns to left-hander Scott DeCecco (5-6, 4.50) while Wisconsin counters with right-hander Tyler Wagner (6-6, 3.78). First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 PM CT.
