LumberKings Fall to the Timber Rattlers in Battle For Division Crown
June 14, 2005 - Midwest League (MWL1)
Clinton LumberKings News Release
Wisconsin (36-28) jumped on the LumberKings in the top of the first inning and held on to defeat Clinton (35-29) 4-3 Monday night at Alliant Energy Field. The LumberKings cut the deficit to 3-2 in the bottom of the second on Kevin Richardson's sixth homerun of the season. Wisconsin added another run on Chen's fourth homerun of the season in the top of the third to lead 4-2. The LumberKings' starter Ace Walker (3-6) then settled down and the LumberKings' staff held the Timber Rattlers scoreless the rest of the game. The teams exchanged goose eggs until a Ben Harrison solo homerun in the bottom of the eighth, his sixth on the season.
The LumberKings started the ninth with a Jim Fasano single, who was then replaced by Brandon Boggs. Boggs advanced to second base on an Adam Fox sacrifice bunt. Boggs advanced to third on a ground out by Emerson Frostad and was stranded there when Lizahio Beaz also grounded out, ending the LumberKing's threat.
The LumberKings will take on the Timber Rattlers again Tuesday night at Alliant Energy Field, game time 7:00 pm. There will be a Frisbee giveaway from Pizza Hut. The probable pitching matchup will be Casey Abrams (3-4, 4.85) for the Timber Rattlers and Kyle Rogers (3-4, 6.54) for the LumberKings.
