Lavon Lewis Joins Caps; Peralta Placed on DL

COMSTOCK PARK, MI - The Detroit Tigers announced today that righthanded pitcher Lavon Lewis has been added to the West Michigan Whitecaps roster. Lewis has been on the Oneonta Tigers roster at extended spring training in Lakeland, Florida since the beginning of the season. The Tigers also announced that lefthanded pitcher Tony Peralta has been placed on the disabled list with left shoulder soreness.

Lewis was selected by the Tigers in the 26th round of the June 2003 draft. He played 11 games for the Gulf Coast League Tigers and appeared in one game for the Whitecaps in 2003. Lewis spent the 2004 season in Oneonta.

Peralta has appeared in 22 games as a reliever for the Whitecaps this season and has a 1-2 record with a 7.71 ERA.

The Whitecaps roster remains at 25 active players.
