Peralta placed on disabled list as first half winds down

LANSING – The Toronto Blue Jays have announced today that second baseman Juan Peralta has officially been placed on the disabled list today, retroactive to June 9th. Peralta has been battling a sore right hand and has not played in a game since June 3rd.

In 48 games, the native of Santiago Rodirguez in the Dominican Republic earned a Midwest League All-Star selection by batting .292 with a home run and 29 runs driven in, Peralta is also the best fielding second baseman in the league, according to league fielding statistics. At this time, no subsequent roster move will made to take Perlata's place.

The Lugnuts continue their three-game series in West Michigan tonight at 7:00 p.m. as Russ Savickas takes to the hill for Lansing. The Lugnuts will continue their road trip through Friday in Grand Rapids and Fort Wayne before returning home to finish off the first half. Saturday's game will feature a post-game fireworks display presented by LAFCU, Your Credit Union For Life and Sunday's game will be a Meijer Kids Day with Kids Run The Bases presented by Pepsi.
