Muskegon Lumberjacks News Release
Youngstown, Ohio (October 24th ) - The Muskegon Lumberjacks fell to the Youngstown Phantoms 3-2.
The Lumberjacks started the scoring early when Matej Paulovic deflected a Derek Daschke shot for his first goal of the season. Trevor Hamilton got an assist on the goal. After, the Lumberjacks continued the pressure and had a power play opportunity, but were unable to capitalize.
With six minutes to go in the first period, Cameron Morrison came streaking down the left side and fired a pass through a couple bodies, and Yushiroh Hirano one-timed the puck into the back of the net to level the game 1-1.
In the second period, the Lumberjacks had a couple power play opportunities and finally broke through when Collin Adams left the puck behind him for Rem Pitlick, who fired a shot from in the slot past Phantoms goal- tender Ryan Bednard, to give the Lumberjacks a 2-1 lead.
The third period started with back and forth hockey, but after a long offensive possession for the Phantoms, Lu- kas Craggs was able to get a shot past Joey Daccord to tie the game. Three minutes later, it was Hirano sending the puck to the net, and Morrison getting a stick on it to give the Phantoms a 3-2 win.
The Lumberjacks outshot the Phantoms 17-16 and went one for five on the power play.
