Stars Top Team USA 5-4 in OT

Plymouth, MI - Backed by a couple goals from Grant Jozefek, the Stars beat Team USA 5-4 in overtime in the USA Hockey Arena on Saturday night.

The Stars took an early 1-0 lead 32 seconds into the game when Jozefek scored on a rebound from Patrick Polino's shot.

Dominick Mersch would make is 2-0 for the Stars nearly five minutes later, beating Team USA goalie Adam Scheel with a wrist shot from the left circle.

Lincoln's lead would evaporate shortly after with Team USA notching a couple goals before the end of the period and making it 2-2 at the first intermission.

Sam Kauppila and Adam Brady each scored for the Stars in the second, giving Lincoln a 4-2 lead to start the third. Kaupilla's goal marked his second of the season and came when he beat goalie Adam Scheel over the glove hand.

Team USA closed the gap again in the third period, sending it to overtime tied 4-4.

Jozefek was the hero in the extra period, barreling down the left wing side and beating Scheel on the backhand just 26 seconds into overtime.

Stars goalie Patrik Virtanen finished the game with 28 saves.

The win moved the Stars to 8-1-0 on the season and gave them their seventh consecutive win.
