YOUNGSTOWN, OH- The Youngstown Phantoms scored two goals in the third period to defeat the Muskegon Lumberjacks Saturday night by a final score of 3-2. Phantoms forward Cameron Morrison had a two point night, including the game winning goal.
"We knew if we kept playing our game, good things would come. We really put it into high gear in the third period and were able to come out with a win," Morrison said.
The contest was Youngstown's annual "Pink in the Rink" game to benefit breast cancer awareness. This carried special meaning for many Phantoms players including Lukas Craggs, who lost his grandmother to breast cancer.
"I was a huge win for us with a lot of families in town for this breast cancer awareness game. I couldn't be happier to get a goal and get this win," said Craggs.
A portion of every ticket sold went to the Joanie Abdu Comprehensive Breast Care Center. The Phantoms wore special pink jerseys which were auctioned off after the game, with all that money also benefiting Joanie Abdu.
The Phantoms will hit the road this week, heading to Sioux Falls to take on the defending Clark Cup champions Friday and Saturday.
