Ralston, NE - Michael Montambault and Nathan Krusko scored 1:14 apart in the third period to force overtime. However, it was Mattias Goransson's second goal of the night that provided the game-winning goal for the Tri-City Storm as they defeated the Omaha Lancers, 4-3, in front of the third straight sellout crowd at Ralston Arena on Friday night.

A fortunate bounce while on the power play helped the Storm take a 1-0 lead in the opening period. While Jake Gingell was in the penalty box and Tri-City set up around the Lancers' penalty kill, the puck hopped up in the air and landed in the hash marks. Mattias Goransson stepped up and beat goaltender Kris Oldham for his first of the season and a 1-0 lead at the 12:50 mark. Assists on Goransson's marker were credited to Nico Sturm and Carson Meyer.

Omaha came back and tied the game in the second period on a rebound chance. Josh French sent a pass to Jacob Bryson who played a one-timer on net that was originally stopped by Storm netminder Matt Greenfield. Brian Williams collected the loose puck and fired in his second of the season to tie the game 1-1 at 3:15 of the middle period. Bryson had the first assist and French took the secondary helper.

Later in the second, Tri-City had to kill a power play and a goal came out of it as well. After picking up the puck in the neutral zone, Paul Washe moved in all alone on a breakaway opportunity. Washe beat Kris Oldham on the blocker side to give the Storm a 2-1 lead with just 4:17 remaining in the period. The goal by Washe was his first of the year, unassisted.

Just 4:59 into the final period Carson Meyer put the Storm up by a pair of goals. From the left side of Kris Oldham, Tri-City's Jake Wahlin sent a back hand pass that went right to an awaiting Meyer at the top of the crease for a 3-1 lead. Wahlin had the assist on the pass to Meyer while Nico Sturm was credited with the second assist.

Omaha staged a two-goal comeback in a little over one minute. In the neutral zone, John Wojciechowski tapped the puck to Michael Montambault who quickly moved into the offensive zone. At the top of the left wing circle, Montambault let a wrist shot go that went by the glove of Matt Greenfield to pull the Lancers within a single goal at 12:41 of the third period. The only assist went to Wojciechowski.

Only 1:14 later, Omaha tied the game off the stick of Nathan Krusko. Austin Alger moved to the top of the offensive zone circles and sent a pass to his left right to Krusko who skated to the bottom of the circle and beat Greenfield for his fourth goal of the year. The goal by Krusko tied the game at three goals apiece and was assisted by Alger and Johan Steen.

In overtime however, Mattias Goransson picked up his second goal of the night for the game-winner in overtime to give the Storm a 4-3 victory, ending their four game losing streak. Goransson scooped up the puck at the bottom of the right wing circle, went around Oldham, and slid the puck in for the winner at 4:38 of the extra time.

The Omaha Lancers hit the road tomorrow night to face the Waterloo Black Hawks inside Young Arena. The puck drops at 7:05 p.m. and fans can listen live beginning at 6:50 p.m. with the Valpak Pregame Show on "The Mighty" 1290 KOIL, Mighty 1290 KOIL Mobile APP, www.mighty1290koil.com, and FASTHockey.com.
