Lugnuts defeat Snappers 7-3

Coming off a rained shortened series victory over the Cedar Rapids Kernels the Snappers' offense kept clicking as they jumped out to an early 2-0 lead.
Second baseman Drew Thompson singled with one out to kick start the offense. Ramon Santana followed with a single to left as well putting runners on first and second. The hot hitting Danny Rams connected on the third straight single by the Snappers that loaded the bases. Jon Waltenbury drove in two runs by cracking his 11th double of the season that scored both Thompson and Santana.
The Lugnuts would counter with a pair of runs in the top half of the second tying the game at two a pierce.
Eventually the Lugnuts would take a five run lead by posting three runs in the six and a pair in the eighth.
Jeffrey Lanning would connect on his first home run of the season as he crushed one over the left field wall. That wasn't enough for the Snappers to get back into the game as the Lugnuts took game one 7-3.
The two teams will meet Sunday afternoon as right hander Bobby Lanigan will take the hill for the Snappers. It will be Snappy bank give away as the first 250 kids under the age of fourteen will receive a Snappy bank courtesy of Parker Community Credit Union with game starting at 2:00pm.
