Game Time 7:30pm/7:15pm
Tonight's Game: The TinCaps and Bees open a 3G series at Community Field. Fort Wayne brings a 7-game win streak into play.
Last Night: The TinCaps had just two base hits but still beat Kane County, 4-2. Stiven Osuna delivered 5.2IP strong, allowing an unearned run. Jaff Decker blasted a solo HR, his 12th, and the TinCaps twice scored runs on wild pitches. The TinCaps swept the 3G series at Elfstrom Stadium.
Burlington was pounded by Great Lakes, 11-3. The Bees allowed three HRs in the game, but it was still tied going into the 6th inning. From there, the Loons scored the last eight runs of the game to blow it open. Burlington lost 2 of 3 in the series.
Season Series: Fort Wayne took 2 of 3 from the Bees at Parkview Field in late May. In the first game, Burlington jumped out to a 6-0 lead against Simon Castro before the TinCaps got on the board. In Game 2, the TinCaps held on to win, 6-4, despite a 3R 9th inning by Burlington. In the finale, Fort Wayne scored 5R in the 1st inning and twice answered big Burlington innings with crooked numbers of their own in a 12-5 victory.
Tonight's Starting Pitchers: The TinCaps send RH Chris Fetter to the mound against Burlington RH Manauris Baez.
Fetter, 23, makes his second start with the TinCaps. He was selected in the 9th round of this year's draft out of the University of Michigan. In 5GS with Short-A Eugene, Fetter went 1-0, 2.38ERA. He is a native of Carmel, Indiana, in the northern suburbs of Indianapolis.
Baez, 23, makes his 12th start, 22nd appearance for the Bees. He is coming off his best start of the year, going 6IP 2H 0R 2BB 5K in a win Sunday at South Bend. Baez has been much better as a starter this year, going 3-4, 2.88ERA in 11GS and 1-0, 1SV, 5.33ERA in 10G in relief. He was originally signed by the Yankees as a catcher and first baseman and played for the Yankees' DSL team in 2006, but did not play in 2007 before signing with the Royals for the 2008 season, when he went 2-2, 2.89ERA with Rookie-level Burlington (North Carolina).
