Rewind:

Wednesday, BEARS 3 vs. Devils 2

The Hershey Bears special teams thwarted Lowell's chances of extending their win streak to five games, as the Devils dropped a 3-2 decision on the road Wednesday night. Hershey scored twice on the power play and added the game winner while shorthanded midway through the second period. Barry Tallackson and Petr Vrana scored for the Devils in the loss.

Friday, Pirates 2 vs. DEVILS 1

Lowell peppered Portland netminder Michael Leighton with 13 shots in the opening period and 37 in the game but he stood his ground and backstopped the visiting Pirates to a 2-1 win Friday night. Chris Minard gave the Devils a 1-0 lead in the second period, but Portland took advantage of a couple Lowell turnovers to steal the win, adding the game winner early in the third period.

Saturday, RIVER RATS 5 vs. Devils 0

Special teams again haunted the Devils as the River Rats scored four times with the man advantage and cruised to a 5-0 shutout of Lowell in Albany. Shane Willis scored twice and added an assist for the Rats, who scored three times on a five-minute major power play early in the second and held the Devils to just 19 total shots in the game.

Sunday, DEVILS 2 vs. Bruins 0

The Devils bounced back from a shutout to earn their own shutout, blanking Providence 2-0 in the teams' first meeting of the season. Frank Doyle made 28 saves for the first shutout in team history. Chris Minard and Nicklas Bergfors - the team's two leading goal scorers - both lit the lamp for the Devils.

In the standings

The tight Atlantic Division standings got tighter over the weekend, as the Devils capped off the first quarter of their season. But the Devils 1-3-0-0 record over the week dropped them into a fourth-place tie with the Worcester Sharks with 22 points and a 10-8-1-1 record through 20 games. They trail second-place Providence and Manchester by just one point, and first place Portland by six.

Around the Horns

The Devils will play four games in five nights for the second straight week. Last Wednesday's game in Hershey started a stretch of 11 games in 18 days through December 9th.

Jordan Parise shouldered the 5-0 loss on Saturday night in Albany, but he stopped 42 shots in the process for the second-highest single game save total of the season. He set the high mark with a 44-save performance on the road at Binghamton for his first professional victory.

Seven of RW Nicklas Bergfors' team-leading eight goals have come on the power play.

Chris Minard continues to have the hot hand for the Devils. Though he has played in only 11 of the team's 20 games this season, his seven goals is second on the club.
