Houston Aeros News Release

The Aeros, who dropped a 3-0 decision in Omaha on November 18, were an impressive 7-1-1-1 against Omaha last season, although they won only two of the five games in Nebraska (2-1-1-1). Four of the six all-time meetings in Omaha went to a shootout or overtime. The Aeros won the first two games there, but are 0-2-1-1 in the last four.
The Knights have lost three in a row - two at home - to fall to 12-7-1-0 and into third place, four points behind first-place Chicago in the West. Omaha is in San Antonio on Thursday and Friday before hosting the Aeros on Saturday.
SUN, at PEO, 4 p.m.
The Aeros are 1-0-0-0 this season against Peoria after a 6-4-0-0 regular season mark last season. Houston went on to sweep the Rivermen in four games in the West Division Semifinals. The Aeros went 2-3-0-0 at Carver Arena in the 2005-06 regular season before winning both post-season contests there. Houston has been blanked in two of its five regular season trips to Peoria.
Peoria is 10-6-1-2 for 23 points, in fourth in the West and the team directly above the Aeros in the standings. The Rivermen have won two in a row and four of five overall. Peoria plays a home-and-home with Iowa prior to hosting the Aeros on Sunday.

Tallied seven points (5-2=7) in four games, all in week's final three contests...Notched natural hat trick in span of 6:17 in third period - the fastest three goals by an Aero in the team's 993-game team history - in Friday's 5-3 win over San Antonio...Scored the game-tying, game-winning and empty-net goals...Had an assist in 7-3 loss at Chicago on Saturday...Tallied two more goals and an assist in 6-1 rout of Grand Rapids on Sunday...Has 22 points (11-11=22) in just 20 games this season, a total that has him tied for 15th in AHL in scoring...Eleven goals are four off career-high, set in 2005-06...Notched his 300th career penalty minute with the Aeros on Sunday, making him one of just seven players in team history with 100 points and 300 penalty minutes.
Notables -
- Houston RW Matt Foy notched his first pro hat trick - and in fine style - in Friday's 5-3 win over San Antonio. Foy tallied all three goals in the final 7:25, including the tying, winning and empty-net tallies to complete the natural hat trick. The game was the 993rd in Aeros' regular season franchise history, and Foy became just the second player to score three goals in a period, joining Greg Pankewicz. "Panky" accomplished the feat December 29, 1999, in a 6-2 win over Long Beach. Pankewicz scored his three goals in a span of 8:28, so Foy's trio in just 6:17 bettered the old franchise mark by more than two minutes.
- Houston RW Matt Foy has 11 goals - all at Toyota Center.
- Five of the Aeros' 10 victories have been in come-from-behind fashion, but the way they rallied Friday against San Antonio doesn't happen that often. Houston improved to 1-7-0-0 this season when trailing after two periods. The Aeros hadn't won a game when trailing after 40 minutes since December 31, 2005, a 4-3 overtime win over San Antonio. Houston rallied from a two-goal deficit to win for the first time since April 14, 2006, a 5-4 shootout win over Omaha.
- Aeros veteran D Curtis Murphy's assist Friday was the 400th point of his pro career.
- Aeros veteran D Peter Ratchuk has seven points (2-5=7) in his last seven games.
- The Aeros have won two straight on home ice for just the second time this season, evening their Toyota Center mark at 5-5.

The National Hockey League's Minnesota Wild lost three of four games last week, but is home for four of its next five...Minnesota plays just twice this week, hosting Detroit on Friday and visiting Dallas on Saturday....The Wild is 13-9-1 for 27 points, tied with Edmonton for the top spot in the Northwest Division...C Wyatt Smith has an assist in 11 games...C Jason Morgan remains on injured reserve following hip surgery earlier this month.

The ECHL's Texas Wildcatters are 4-0-0-0 on a seven-game road trip to push their record to an American Conference best 11-2-2-0...The Wildcatters are tied for the top overall spot in the ECHL with 24 points...They are an unbeaten in regulation 7-0-2-0 in their last nine...Texas finishes its seven-game road trip with games this Tuesday, Friday and Saturday - all at Florida...F Kevin Baker (13-11=24) is tied for second in the league in goals and tied for fourth in points... D Mike Madill (0-12=12) and D Paul Albers (4-7=11), both Minnesota Wild contracts, are the top two scoring rookies on the team... F Mark Rooneem has six points (5-1=6) in 14 games...F Riley Emmerson has 32 PIM's in 10 games... G Miroslav Kopriva is 2-0-0 with a 4.72 gaa and a .887 save pct. in four games...G Matt Yeats, who attended Aeros camp, is 9-2-2 with a 2.88 gaa and a .914 save pct.

The Central Hockey League's Austin Ice Bats are 5-6-4 and in fourth place in the Southeast Division...The Ice Bats went 2-1-0 last week...RW Michael Tucciarone, who attended the Aeros' training camp in September, is third on the team with 13 points (6-7=13).

Tuesday: Rookie Josh Tordjman was brilliant, stopping 55 shots in his third AHL start and Bill Thomas and Yanick Lehoux scored 16 seconds apart in the third period, as the San Antonio Rampage sent the Houston Aeros to their third straight loss, 4-2 at AT&T Center. Daniel Winnick and Randall Gelech also scored for San Antonio.
Rookies Danny Irmen and Ben Thomson scored a goal apiece and Josh Harding made 20 saves for Houston.

Friday: Matt Foy recorded his first career hat trick, all in the game's final 7:25, and rookies Danny Irmen and Ben Thomson also scored, as the Houston Aeros rallied for a thrilling 5-3 victory over the San Antonio Rampage at Toyota Center. Josh Harding made 22 saves in his 100th Aeros game, and Curtis Murphy reached the 400-point mark for his pro career for Houston

Saturday: Rookie Brett Sterling tallied two goals and two assists, and veteran linemates Jason Krog and Darren Haydar each posted a goal and two helpers, as the first-place Chicago Wolves used four power play goals to defeat the Houston Aeros 7-3 at Allstate Arena. Jared Ross scored twice, Colin Stuart added a goal and Fred Brathwaite stopped 39 stops for Chicago.
Alex Leavitt and Curtis Murphy each tallied a special teams goal, Peter Ratchuk also scored and Tony Quesada made 42 saves for Houston .

Sunday: Matt Foy scored two more goals and added an assist, and Marco Rosa, Joel Ward, Roman Voloshenko and Benoit Pouliot also scored, as the Houston Aeros defeated the Grand Rapids Griffins 6-1 at Toyota Center. Josh Harding made 23 saves and Alex Leavitt notched two assists for Houston.
