
Louisville Fends off Omaha for a 5-4 Win

PAPILLION, NE- Connor Phillips (2-3, 4.69) produces a quality start as the Louisville Bats (65-61) cruise past the Omaha Storm Chasers (57-66) by a score of 5-4 on Thursday night at Werner Park.
Phillips didn't allow a run in his six innings while striking out six. He was helped on the offensive end by Miguel Hernandez, Jacob Hurtubise and Eric Yang - each who recorded three hits.
Louisville jumped on the board early, scoring one run in the top of the first inning when Jhonny Pereda drew a walk with the bases loaded to give the Bats a 1-0 lead.
The Bats tacked on another run in the following frame. Drew Mount led the inning off with a walk, later scoring on a sacrifice fly to extend Louisville's lead to 2-0.
Miguel Hernandez launched his first home run of the year with Louisville to bring the score to 3-0 in the fourth inning.
With one out in the sixth inning, Louisville hit three consecutive singles, followed by a double by Jacob Hurtubise to bring home two runs and extend the Bats' lead to 5-0.
Omaha got on the board in the seventh inning, scoring one run on three singles to cut the deficit to 5-1.
The Storm Chasers scored three in the bottom of the ninth inning to bring the score within one run, but it wasn't enough as Louisville beat Omaha 5-4.
Louisville and Omaha will play game four of the six game series tomorrow, Friday, September 1st with first pitch set for 7:35 p.m. E.T.
