MANCHESTER, NH - The Los Angeles Kings, the parent club of the Manchester Monarchs, have activated forward Scott Thornton from the injured reserve list and have assigned right wing Lauri Tukonen to the Monarchs, Kings President/General Manager Dean Lombardi announced today.

Tukonen, 20, played in his first NHL game last night and had zero points and zero penalty minutes after being recalled by the Kings on Wednesday from Manchester. With the Monarchs this season, he has 23 points (10-13=23) and 20 penalty minutes in 43 games. The Kings originally selected Tukonen, a 6-foot-2, 200-pound native of Hyvinkaa, Finland, in the first-round (11th overall) in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.

Thornton, 36, has missed the last 23 games due to a wrist injury. In 38 games with the Kings this season, he has nine points (5-4=9) and 60 penalty minutes. The 6-foot-3, 220-pound native of London, Ontario, was signed by the Kings as a free agent on July 1, 2006. Thornton has appeared in 874 career regular season NHL games with the Kings, San Jose, Montreal, Dallas, Edmonton and Toronto, and has 273 points (137-136=273) and 1,395 penalty minutes.
