
Admirals Captain Craig MacDonald Returns to Norfolk

NORFOLK, VA - Chicago Blackhawks General Manager Dale Tallon announced today that the team has returned Admirals' captain Craig MacDonald to Norfolk. In addition, Admirals General Manager Al MacIsaac announced today that the team has released center Brandin Cote from a Professional Tryout Contract.
MacDonald, 29, is a 6'1", 202 lb. center from Antigonish, Nova Scotia. The Admirals' captain was recalled to Chicago under emergency conditions on February 7th. During his fourth stint with the Blackhawks this season, MacDonald appeared in eight games scoring one goal and adding an assist with two penalty minutes. He has now played in 25 games for Chicago this season scoring three goals and adding two assists with 14 penalty minutes.
MacDonald signed a one-year deal with the Blackhawks on July 25, 2006. In 160 career NHL games with Chicago, Calgary, Boston, Florida and Carolina, MacDonald has eight goals and 14 assists for 22 points and 75 penalty minutes.
The Admirals' captain has 12 goals and 19 assists with 24 penalty minutes and a +11 rating in 34 games with Norfolk this season. In 297 career AHL games between Norfolk, Omaha, Lowell, San Antonio and New Haven, MacDonald has 73 goals and 129 assists for 202 points.
Cote, 25, is a 5'10", 200 lb. center from Swift Current, Saskatchewan. He appeared in five games with the Admirals going scoreless with eight penalty minutes.
This season, Cote has appeared in 46 games for the Texas Wildcatters (ECHL), scoring 19 goals and adding 24 assists with 76 penalty minutes. The Wildcatters' captain is tied for second in the ECHL with five game-winning goals, and he is also tied for third on the team in scoring with 43 points and second on the team in plus/minus with a +11 rating.
Prior to this season, Cote spent parts of three seasons with the Admirals from 2002-2005 and ranks eighth on the all-time games played list with 194 games in a Norfolk uniform. He has 14 goals and 25 assists for 39 points with 191 penalty minutes as an Admiral.
The Admirals play the fifth contest of their ten-game road trip on Saturday night against the Hartford Wolf Pack. The puck drops at 7:00 p.m.
