Chicago Wolves News Release
The Atlanta Thrashers have reassigned center DEREK MacKENZIE to the Chicago Wolves.
The 25-year-old forward did not appear in Atlanta's 5-4 overtime loss against the Tampa Bay Lightning last night. He has been held scoreless in four outings in a Thrashers uniform this season.
MacKENZIE ranks sixth on the Wolves with 22 assists and 36 points, which are both career-highs, in 49 outings this season. He has accrued 13 points (3G, 10A) in his last 11 outings with Chicago, which includes six multiple-point performances. The Sudbury, Ontario, native currently leads the American Hockey League with five short-handed tallies and holds the Wolves all-time record with 21 career shorties.
MacKENZIE ranks third all-time in Wolves history with 374 games played and is Chicago's active leader in goals (83), assists (100), points (183) and penalty minutes (433). He has dished out two assists in 28 career games with the Thrashers in parts of four seasons (2001-2002; 2003-2004; 2005-2006; 2006-2007).
