Lorenzen Throws Complete-Game Shutout in Bats 4-0 Win

LOUISVILLE Ky.- Michael Lorenzen (W, 3-1, 1.93) threw a complete-game shutout on Sunday as the Louisville Bats (59-64) were able to snap a six-game skid and were able to salvage the final game of the series with the Norfolk Tides (70-51) by winning, 4-0. Lorenzen gave up four hits and one walk while striking out one.

The Bats got an early lead in the bottom of the second inning as Ramon Cabrera and Ryan LaMarre each hit singles. Juan Perez hit the third single of the inning to score Cabrera. Hernan Iribarren continued the trend and hit a single to score both LaMarre and Perez and give the Bats a 3-0 lead. 

Louisville picked up another run in the seventh after Kristopher Negron doubled to right and later scored on a single by Irving Falu.

Offensively for the Bats, Perez was 2-for-3 with one RBI, Falu was 2-for-4 with one RBI, and Cabrera was 2-for-4.

Elih Villanueva (L, 3-2, 4.20) suffered the loss for Norfolk. Villanueva threw seven innings. He gave up 10 hits, four runs, three earned runs and no walks while striking out four.

Louisville will be home again tomorrow night against Durham at 7:05 p.m. Right-handed pitcher Donn Roach (2-2, 3.94) will be on the mound for the Bats. Durham's lefty Matt Moore (1-2, 3.86) will get the start.
