The next batter, Andy Burns, singled to score Kawasaki from second, giving the Bisons an early 1-0 lead.

The Bisons added two more runs in the top of the fourth. With two outs, Chris Heisey walked and then advanced to second when Jon Berti reached on an infield single. Josh Thole continued the rally with a bases-clearing double that made the score 3-0 Bisons.

Syracuse (54-69) finally scored its first run in the bottom of the fifth. Den Dekker led off the inning with a solo home run over the new porch behind the right-field wall, making the score 3-1.

For the second straight game, the Buffalo pitchers shut down the Chiefs' offense. Starter Todd Redmond pitched six innings and allowed only one run and four hits while striking out five batters.
