WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (July 13, 2015) - Winston-Salem right-hander Robinson Leyer has been named the Carolina League's Pitcher of the Week for his efforts during the week of July 6-12, the league office announced Monday. Leyer is the second Dash hurler and third Winston-Salem player to earn a weekly award this season.

The 21-year-old Leyer tossed seven shutout innings of two-hit ball on Wednesday at Myrtle Beach. The native of the Dominican Republic did not walk a batter and fanned five. Leyer also went seven shutout innings in his previous start on July 3 at Carolina, scattering four hits and striking out five.

Before this surge, Leyer only logged one outing of seven innings and zero runs. His current 14-inning scoreless streak is second to James Dykstra (15 innings from April 9-22) for the longest by a Dash hurler in 2015. In his first season at the High-A level, Leyer is 3-6 with a 4.30 ERA. He has punched out 64 batters while walking 26 in 84.2 innings.

Ranked as the 30th-best prospect in the White Sox organization by MLB.com, Leyer joins Dykstra and Winston-Salem third baseman Trey Michalczewski as Carolina League honorees in 2015. Dykstra received the first Pitcher of the Week for April 9-19, while Michalczewski won Player of the Week for May 11-17.

The Dash complete their four-game series with Potomac on Monday. After Tuesday's scheduled off day, Winston-Salem begins a four-game set at Carolina.

The Winston-Salem Dash are the Class A-Advanced minor league affiliate of the Chicago White Sox. To purchase tickets and for more information, please call (336) 714-2287 or visit www.wsdash.com.
