LAST TIME OUT: Wilmington used a four-run third inning to pull ahead of Lynchburg for a 5-3 win on Sunday afternoon at Calvin Falwell Field at City Stadium...NELLIE RODRIGUEZ recorded his first multi-home run game of the season in a losing effort...Lynchburg jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first inning...CLINT FRAZIER reached on a walk with two outs, and NELLIE RODRIGUEZ roped his 11th home run of the season to give the Hillcats the lead...In the top of the third inning, things started to get hairy for LUIS LUGO and the Hillcats...DEXTER KJERSTAD, JACK LOPEZ, and MAURICIO RAMOS each singled to load the bases before CODY STUBBS recorded a two-run double to tie the game at two...STUBBS has amassed five RBIs in the last three games against Lynchburg with a pair of solo home runs and a double...Wilmington wasn't done in the third, however, as ELIER HERNANDEZ hit a sacrifice fly to right to score RAMOS, giving Wilmington a 3-2 lead...ALFREDO ESCALERA singled to complete the four-run third, scoring STUBBS to make it 4-2 Blue Rocks...LUGO left the game after the fourth inning as he allowed four runs on eight hits while walking and striking out two...DELVY FRANCISCO and PERCI GARNER, who made his Hillcats debut, each pitched two scoreless innings and allowed just one hit combined to keep the score in place through the top of the eighth inning...In the home half of the frame, with one out and no one on base, NELLIE RODRIGUEZ pounded his second home run over the left field wall to bring the Hillcats within one, 4-3...In the top of the ninth, Wilmington added an extra run for good measure...JACK LOPEZ reached on an error by PAUL HENDRIX and advanced to second on a single by MAURICIO RAMOS...LOPEZ stole third base and came home to score on an errant throw by SICNARF LOOPSTOK to give Wilmington a 5-3 lead.

VS. WILMINGTON: Lynchburg is 7-6 overall against the Wilmington Blue Rocks this season and 4-2 against them at home at City Stadium...The last time the two squads met, Lynchburg took the first game of the series, but dropped the final two...In the rubber match of the series, Wilmington used an eight run eighth to steal away a 9-6 win...LUIGI RODRIGUEZ leads all Hillcat hitters with a minimum of five games played with a .346 average against the Blue Rocks...In 11 games, RODRIGUEZ has recorded two home runs with seven RBIS and has swiped six bags...CLINT FRAZIER is hitting just .200 in 12 games against Wilmington, but shares the team lead of 10 RBIs with NELLIE RODRIGUEZ...As a team, Lynchburg is hitting .257 against Wilmington which is only two points higher than their season average...It also marks the highest batting average of any team against the Blue Rocks...Frederick is second with a .252 average.

THIRD TIME WAS THE CHARM: MITCH BROWN will take the mound for the Hillcats tonight for his fourth appearance against the Wilmington Blue Rocks this season...BROWN is 1-0 against the Blue Rocks this year with the sole win coming in his third appearance on July 1...The Hillcats as a team are 2-1 against Wilmington with BROWN on the mound...The one loss came in a no-decision effort by BROWN as he allowed just one run over seven innings, but the 'Cats fell 4-2 at home to the Blue Rocks...BROWN is coming off consecutive wins for the first time this season and is seeking to win three in a row for the third time in his career...He has not accomplished the trifecta since he won three in a row for the Lake County Captains in his final three starts of the 2014 season...He has never won more than three starts in a row.

GET ON BOARD.: With a walk in the first inning yesterday, CLINT FRAZIER extended his consecutive on-base streak to 18 games...During that span, FRAZIER has seen his on-base percentage jump 20 points from .332 to .352...The streak by FRAIZER is his second longest of the season...He reached base in 19 straight games earlier this season...He owns the top two longest on-base streaks this season for the Hillcats...NELLIE RODRIGUEZ has the third longest streak reaching base in 16 straight games...FRAZIER ranks fifth on the team in on-base percentage...BRADLEY ZIMMER leads the way reaching base in just over 40 percent of his plate appearances...The current Carolina League season-high for consecutive games on-base is held by Myrtle Beach's CHESNEY YOUNG who is currently on a 32 game on-base streak.

SO NICE, HE DID IT TWICE: NELLIE RODRIGUEZ pounded a pair of home runs in the same game for the first time this season yesterday against Wilmington...It was the first time RODRIGUEZ has recorded multiple home runs in a game this season and the fourth time in his career...The Hillcats have recorded multi-home run games by an individual four times this year...Prior to NELLIE RODRIGUEZ'S night at the plate, CLINT FRAZIER was the last Hillcat to record two bombs in a single game back on May 30 at Frederick...RODRIGUEZ entered the game one home run shy of the leauge lead of 11 dingers that was held by fellow teammate LUIGI RODRIGUEZ...NELLIE now leads the Carolina League in home runs with 12, RBIs with 65 and extra-base hits with 38.

DIAMOND IN THE ROUGH: Hillcats shortstop IVAN CASTILLO made several spectacular plays from his position Saturday night defensively to help seal the 3-2 victory...CASTILLO recorded eight assists from the shortstop position with several acrobatic throws to get some critical outs...Although CASTILLO leads the Hillcats with 20 errors this season, he has committed just one in his last 16 games...The Hillcats as a team rank last in the Carolina League in fielding percentage (.969) and lead the league in errors committed (97) which is 10 more than the next highest team (Potomac, 87)...Lynchburg, however, is also tied for the league lead in double-plays turned with 90 (Frederick).

AYE PAPI!: With a single in the first inning last night, outfielder MIKE PAPI extended his hitting streak to a Carolina League-leading 14 games...During that span, PAPI has recorded at least one hit in each contest and is 20-for-49 (.408) with two home runs, eight doubles, 12 RBIs, and nine runs scored...PAPI has set the longest streak by a Hillcats batter this season breaking LUIGI RODRIGUEZ'S previous high of 12 and has now tied the season-high in the Carolina League at 14 games shared with JAKE PETER of Winston-Salem...The Hillcats have had three of the longest streaks in the Carolina League this season...JOE SEVER recorded an 11 game streak from May 7-May 19...The all-time Carolina League record for most consecutive games hit safely was set all the way back in 1948 by ORGE PAT COOPER of the Martinsville A's who hit safely in 31 consecutive games.

TODAY IN BASEBALL HISTORY: On July 13, 1896, Phillies outfielder Ed Delahanty hit four home runs in one game in a 9-8 loss at the Chicago Colts. All of the future Hall of Famer's quartet of round trippers at the West Side Grounds were the inside-the-park variety. Delahanty only hit nine other home runs in 1896, but that was good enough to finish as the league leader that season with 13 total homers.
