Lexington Legends News Release
APPLEBEE'S PARK (Lexington, KY) - In the spirit of community and excitement, the Lexington Legends are happy to announce a wild event for the city and the organization. It's Zoo Day at the Applebee's Park in partnership with the Louisville Zoo!
Camels, Wallabees and more are expected to arrive at the ballpark on Wednesday, June 25. The gates open at 11 am and Legends fans will learn about many of the animals from the Louisville Zoo and take home free bio-facts and brochures.
Zoo tickets, posters of the zoo's baby elephant Scotty and other fun giveaways are planned for throughout the day.
Zoo officials plan to bring out their large 14-foot inflatable polar bear mascot to set up at the stadium. The mascot commemorates the new Glacier Run exhibit the Zoo has just opened.
Legends General Manager, Andy Shea thinks this new partnership with the Zoo is a great way to help open up new doors for both Lexington and Louisville,
"This is one more great partnership we have been able to form this year with another entertainment venue in our region," Shea said. "It's going to be a lot of fun having live animals visit our ballpark and interact with our fans!"
The Legends expect a large turnout for the game and dozens of daycares across Central Kentucky have already purchased tickets to bring their youngsters to the game. The action starts on the field at 12:05 pm.
