RiverDogs to Celebrate Go Back to Ohio Night on Wednesday

June 23, 2008 - South Atlantic League (SAL1)
Charleston RiverDogs News Release

CHARLESTON, SC- Due to the influx of Ohioans into the Lowcountry over the decades, the Charleston RiverDogs, the Class-A affiliate of the New York Yankees, have themed their Wednesday, June 25th game against the Columbus Catfish as "Go Back to Ohio Night at The Joe." The RiverDogs are encouraging fans to dress up in team colors that represent their native state, either the Buckeye State or the Palmetto State. Throughout the game there will be between innings promotions featuring the North verses the South.

At the conclusion of the game, the RiverDogs will recognize the most outlandish dressed Ohioan, who will receive a one-way Greyhound bus ticket back to the Buckeye State.

The RiverDogs are promoting this special night as ‘tongue-in-cheek' because almost half of the front office staff hails from Ohio.

"There recently has been a lot of attention paid to the folks who have moved down here from Ohio," said Jim Pfander, a graduate of Ohio University and RiverDogs Assistant General Manager. "Regardless of what your stance is on the issue, we want all fans to have fun at the ballpark and be able to laugh at themselves in true RiverDogs fashion."
