Hartford, Conn. - Nathan Lawson saw a barrage of shots and words come his way all game from the Hartford Wolf Pack but he was able to fend them all off, stopping 23 shots to earn his second shutout of the season and give the Sound Tigers a 1-0 win. The Sound Tiger net-minder got into two separate confrontations with well known NHL instigator and now Wolf Pack winger, Sean Avery throughout the contest but was able to keep his head and deny Hartford the tying goal late in the game. Kurtis McLean scored the only goal of the game in the opening period. The Sound Tigers improve to 32-17-3-3 and now have 70 points, three behind the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins for second place in the East Division.

McLean would break the scoreless tie 17:42 into the first period, with his 14th goal of the season. Ben Walter saucered a pass to Joe Callahan at the center point position where the defenseman wristed a shot on Hartford net-minder, Matt Zaba. Zaba made the save but McLean grabbed the loose puck and chipped it over the Hartford net-minder's pad for the 1-0 lead.

In the second, the intensity heated up as, Avery got in shouting matches with Pascal Morency at the start of the period and Tyler Haskins while the Sound Tigers were shorthanded with four minutes remaining in the period. As Avery was stirring things up, Hartford had the best chance of the period as Artem Anismov streaked in alone on Lawson. The Wolf Pack's leading scorer dipped his shoulder and snapped a shot, attempting to go over Lawson's blocker, but the Sound Tigers' goalie was able to get his stick on the shot to keep Hartford off the score-board through two periods.

Lawson would complete his shutout in the third period, turning aside the final 10 shots he faced to earn his second blanking of the season and give the Sound Tigers a 1-0 victory over the Wolf Pack.

The Sound Tigers out-shot Hartford 32-23 and were 2-for-2 on the penalty-kill and 0-for-2 on the man-advantage.

On Friday, the Sound Tigers will take on the Albany River Rats at the Times Union Center in Albany, NY. Face-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. Saturday, the Sound Tigers will make their only trip of the season to Springfield, Mass when they take on the Falcons at 7 p.m. The Sound Tigers will return home on Sunday to face-off against the Portland Pirates at 1 p.m. For tickets or information on how you can receive group discounted tickets, contact the team's front office at (203) 334-GOAL or e-mail info@soundtigers.com.
