Flames set franchise record with fifth straight win

Quad City concluded their season series vs. Lake Erie on Wednesday with a 3-2 win over the Monsters. The victory established a new franchise record for consecutive wins as the Flames improved to 5-0-0-0 in their last quintet of contests. Brett Sutter, Kyle Greentree, Jamie Lundmark and supplied goals while Kevin Lalande turned aside 27 shots to improve to 3-0-0 on the season.

The Flames took a 1-0 lead when Brett Sutter scored the only goal of the opening period. On a rush into the Lake Erie zone, Cam Cunning left a drop pass that Sutter fired home from the right wing circle for his sixth goal of the year. The tally stood up as the only goal of the opening 20 minutes while the Flames outshot Lake Erie 12-6.

Kyle Greentree netted his 28th goal of the year on a feed from David Van der Gulik at 3:06 of the second period. The tally extended the Flames lead to two goals. Jamie Lundmark jammed home his 15th goal of the year on a goal-mouth scramble during a Flames power play at 9:18 of the middle frame. The goal was assisted by Anders Eriksson and Kyle Greentree and pushed the Flames lead to 3-0. Lake Erie got on the board less than 90 seconds later when Matt Hendricks rifled home a shot from the right wing circle for his fifth goal of the season. Hendricks' goal was the final marker of the frame and set the score at 3-1 after 40 minutes.

Lake Erie's Codey Burki scored the only goal of the closing frame with 3:38 left in the period to spur a late closing kick by the Monsters. But, Lake Erie would pull no closer as the Flames earned their first ever regulation victory vs. the Monsters.

The Flames are back on home ice on Friday night to face the San Antonio Rampage. Tickets are $10.00 in the lower bowl and $5.00 in the upper bowl.
