
Rivermen Receive Carl Corazzini from Springfield

PEORIA, Ill. (February 18, 2009) - Peoria Rivermen General Manager Kevin McDonald announced today that the Edmonton Oilers have assigned Carl Corazzini from the Springfield Falcons. In exchange, the St. Louis Blues have reassigned Charles Linglet from the Peoria Rivermen to Springfield.
Corazzini, 29, has appeared in 55 games with the Falcons this season and has posted 19 points (7g, 12a). He was tied for fourth on the team in scoring at the time of his reassignment. The 5-10, 182-pound right wing spent the 2007-08 campaign with the Grand Rapids Griffins where he collected 24 goals, 36 assists, 60 points and 14 penalty minutes in 80 games played. He led the Griffins in goals, assists, points and games played.
Prior to joining the Griffins, the native of Framingham, Mass. spent two years with the Norfolk Admirals collecting 54 goals and 58 assists for 112 points in 143 career games from 2005-2007. He ranked third on the Admirals in goals in back-to-back seasons totaling 28 goals during the 2006-07 campaign and scoring 26 markers during the 2005-06 season. Corazzini has reached the 20-goal plateau in each of his previous three AHL seasons.
He started his pro career in 2001 within the Boston Bruins organization and in a total of 164 games with the Providence Bruins (from 2001-2004) he collected 16 goals and 23 assists for 39 points. He made his NHL debut with the Boston Bruins during the 2003-04 season scoring his first NHL goal while with Boston. In 19 career NHL games, he has recorded two goals and one assist for three points and two penalty minutes splitting time between Boston and the Chicago Blackhawks.
Before turning pro, Corazzini spent four years at Boston University from 1997-2001. He led the Terriers in goals during both his junior and senior seasons. In 150 career games at Boston University, he registered 62 goals and 55 assists for 117 points.
Linglet, 26, leaves after recording nine points (1g, 8a) this season with the Rivermen. He spent a total of 228 games with Peoria and totaled 156 points (70g, 86a) over parts of four seasons.
