Albany Recalls Left Wing Yannick Tifu

ALBANY, NY - The Albany River Rats announced today that the club has recalled left wing Yannick Tifu from loan with the Florida Everblades of the ECHL.

Tifu, 24, was recalled to Albany for the third time this year and has six assists in 15 games for the River Rats this season. The Brossard, Quebec native made the Rats opening night roster, but was held scoreless in nine games before being sent to Florida (ECHL) on November 7th. Tifu returned to Albany on December 27th with a new found confidence as he racked up six assists and a +4 rating in six games played. His production was halted when he suffered an injury during an optional practice on January 5th, an injury that forced him to miss 13 consecutive games. Once cleared to play, Tifu was again loaned to the Everblades and he made an instant impact, scoring five assists and a +3 rating in four games; Tifu has 33 points (6 goals, 27 assists) in 24 games for Florida this season. Tifu signed a standard AHL contract with Albany on September 11, 2008 and in 39 career AHL games with the River Rats and Rochester Americans he has 14 points (3 goals, 11 assists) and 21 penalty minutes..

Tifu is expected to be in the lineup for Albany as they travel to Lowell on Wednesday, February 18th for a 7:00 pm face off against the Devils at Tsongas Arena. The River Rats will return home on Friday, February 20th as they host the Bridgeport Sound Tigers at 7:00 pm at the Times Union Center.
