Worcester Sharks host "Hero's Night" on Saturday vs. Bruins

WORCESTER, MA- Worcester Sharks President and CEO Michael T. Lehr announced that the Sharks will host "Hero's Night" at the DCU Center on Saturday, February 21st at 7:05p.m. vs. the Providence Bruins. The Sharks will host a jersey auction presented by Bay State Savings Bank with all proceeds to benefit Project Smile and Sharks Charities.

Join local police, fire, and military departments on "Hero's Night" on Saturday. Doors will open at 4:30p.m. for the 3rd annual "Guns and Hoses" double header as the Worcester police department battles the Worcester fire department on the DCU Center ice before the Sharks game with one ticket for admission to both games. The Worcester police department's S.W.A.T. vehicle will be on the DCU Center plaza before the game. All police, fire, and military personnel will have the opportunity to purchase discounted $10.75 tickets and the first 2,500 fans 14-years-old and younger will receive a full team trading card set presented by Saint Vincent Hospital.

The Sharks will host a series of jersey auctions at the game presented by Bay State Savings Bank. The All-Star warm-up jerseys will be auctioned off during the game in silent and chinese auction formats, followed by a live auction after the game. A few select jerseys will be auctioned off on EBay beginning on Sunday. All proceeds of the jersey auctions will benefit Project Smile and Sharks Charities and is presented by Bay State Savings Bank through there Champions for Children program. A member from the National Guard will drop the ceremonial puck drop and also sing God Bless America. The Millbury fire department will participate in the first period intermission competition.

Project Smile is a federally tax exempt non-profit organization which donates new and previously owned stuffed animals, coloring books/crayons, small toys and children's reading books for police officers, fire fighters and paramedics to give to children. The goal of Project Smile is to provide all emergency responders throughout New England and eventually throughout the nation, with a continual supply of comfort items to help ease the pain and fear of traumatized children.
