TACOMA, Wash. - The Tacoma Rainiers (64-66) sparked a late rally to beat the El Paso Chihuahuas (77-53) on a score of 8-5 on Saturday night at Cheney Stadium.
Left fielder Adam Law provided the difference for Tacoma, picking up a go-ahead three-run triple in the bottom of the eighth inning. Shortstop Zach Vincej (1x3, R, 2B, 2 RBI) also drove in multiple runs on the night, while center fielder Ian Miller (2x5, R) and catcher David Freitas (2x5, R, RBI) both checked in with a pair of base knocks.
Rainiers starting pitcher Bryan Evans contributed his seventh quality start of the season to the winning effort - he allowed two runs on just four hits across six innings of work. Evans issued no walks and struck out seven on 80 pitches (58 strikes).
Tyler Higgins (1.1 IP) and Shawn Armstrong (1.0 IP) closed out the game with scoreless relief appearances and put the Rainiers in position to come away with the victory. Higgins (1-0) earned his first win of the year, while Armstrong tallied his team-leading 15th save.
