Lansing Lugnuts News Release

LANSING - Two runs in the eighth inning propelled the Burlington Bees to a 4-2 triumph over the Lansing Lugnuts, taking the rubber game of the series Monday night in front of 4,132 fans Oldsmobile Park.

With the score tied 2-2 in the eighth, Nick Van Stratten laced a double down the left field line that plated Adrian Ortiz, putting the Bees up 3-2. Van Stratten would come home two batters later on an infield single by Jason Taylor that gave Burlington a two-run cushion at 4-2.

The Lugnuts had taken a 2-0 lead in the first inning by clubbing three doubles. Justin Jackson started the game with a two-bagger and scored on a John Tolisano groundout that gave Lansing a 1-0 lead. Jonathan Jaspe and Matt Liuzza then followed that with consecutive doubles making it a 2-0 game.

Burlington was able to scratch across a run in the third and tie it up in the fourth when David Lough smashed a solo homer to right field, knotting the game at 2-2.

Trystan Magnuson pitched well for Lansing, as he threw five innings and gave up just two runs while fanning five. However he did not factor into the decision.

Burlington reliever Juan Abreu (3-4) got the win after allowing one hit over four innings.

Edgar Estanga (9-2) took the loss for Lansing. He gave up both runs in the eighth after retiring the first six batters that he had faced.

Chris Chavez nailed down the save for the fourth of the season.

Lansing (55-40, 16-9) will take Tuesday off before returning to action on Wednesday night, when they begin a six-game road trip by taking on the Peoria Chiefs. First pitch Wednesday is set for 8:00 p.m. eastern time.
