
Bees Finish Trip through Michigan with a Win

Lansing, MI (Jul 14, 2008) - The Bees wrapped up a six-game trip through the state of Michigan with a 4-2 win over Lansing Monday night. With the win, the Bees took two out of three from the Lugnuts and won four of six games played in Michigan.
Lansing began the scoring Monday night by scoring two runs in the bottom of the first inning. The Bees began to chip away at that lead in the third inning. Juan Rivera led the inning off with a bunt single, moved to second on a wild pitch and then to third on a Ryan Eigsti ground-out. Rivera then came into score on an Adrian Ortiz RBI ground-out. The Bees tied the game up in the fourth when David Lough led the inning off by hitting his eighth homerun of the season.
The score remained 2-2 until the eighth inning. In the top of the eighth, Eigsti led the inning off with a single. Adrian Ortiz then put down a sacrifice but ended up reaching second on an error. Eigsti reached third on the play but was thrown out trying to score. With one out and Ortiz at second base, Nick Van Stratten doubled to score Ortiz and give the Bees a 3-2 lead. Van Stratten moved to third on a Lough ground-out before scoring on a Jason Taylor single to give the Bees a 4-2 lead.
Danny Duffy got the start for the Bees. In four innings of work, he gave up two runs on seven hits with five strikeouts and one walk. Juan Abreu won his second consecutive game and is now 3-4 after throwing four shutout innings with five strikeouts and a walk. Chris Chavez pitched a scoreless ninth with three strikeouts to pick up his fourth save of the season.
The Bees were outhit 10-9. Both Lough and Kyle Martin had two hits in the game. Van Stratten extended his hitting streak to 12 games with his hit. With the win, the Bees took two out of three from Lansing. The Bees also finish the six-game trip through the stage of Michigan with a 4-6 record.
The Bees will travel back to Burlington and have Tuesday off. The Bees open a three-game series at Quad Cities on Wednesday. Alex Caldera is the scheduled starter. First pitch is set for 1:00. The game can be heard online at www.GoBees.com. The Bees return home to Community Field Saturday July 19th for a six-game home stand.
