CLINTON, IA - Another day, another come from behind victory for the Snappers as Beloit defeated the Clinton LumberKings for their second straight win in Iowa. Beloit scored 4 runs in the final 3 innings to not only give them the lead, but the 5-4 victory.
The game would get moving when Clinton jumped out to an early lead with a 3-spot in the third inning to take the 3-0 advantage. However, Beloit was able to respond right back with a run just an inning later in the fourth.
In the fourth, Beloit would get on the board using the big fly. With one out in the inning, Devin Foyle would step up to the plate and crush a baseball over dead center to get the Snappers on the board. The homer was Foyle's sixth homer of the year to cut the deficit to 3-1.
After another run for Clinton, Beloit would get the bats going again with 4 runs between the seventh and eighth innings. In the seventh, Anthony Churlin would lead off with a single and later come around to score after a single by Michael Woodworth.
In the eighth, the Beloit bats would come alive once more, this time giving Beloit 3 runs and the 5-4 advantage heading to the final inning.
In the eighth with one out, Max Schuemann would lace a double to left field to get things started for Beloit. Moments later, Marcos Brito would single to right field plating Schuemann and cutting the Snappers deficit to just 1 run.
With Brito still on base, Beloit would bust out the longball bats once more, this time courtesy of Churlin. After extending his hitting streak to 7 games earlier in the game, Churlin would collect his second hit of the game in the fashion of a 2-run homer. The homer was his fourth of the year and gave the Snappers their first lead of the game 5-4.
The game would then turn over Charlie Cerny in the ninth who was able to pitch around some danger and strand the bases loaded with a game-ending double play to complete the 5-4 victory.
Angello Infante will end up getting the win for the Snappers on the mound after three and two- thirds innings of scoreless baseball. Infante did not surrender a run, while giving up just 4 hits and punching out 4.
Cerny will be awarded with the save, his seventh of the season, after slamming the door shut in the ninth. Starting pitcher Chase Cohen will get a no decision after giving up 0 earned runs on 5 hits with 1 strikeout.
Beloit will be back in action tomorrow looking for the series win against the Clinton LumberKings. Beloit is only 9 games back of the wildcard leader, Clinton, making these next two games pivotal not only for a series win, but in the playoff standings. First pitch is at 6:30.
