Late Billingsley Goal Not Enough to Spark Beast Comeback
October 25, 2015 - ECHL (ECHL)
Brampton Beast News Release
WHEELING, WV - The Beast were hoping to ruin the atmosphere in the WesBanco Arena for the Wheeling Nailers Home Opener, but a goal from Billingsley in the second just wasn't enough to spark a Beast comeback.
The night started off with a bang as Beast newcomer Stefan Fournier and his former teammate Patrick McGrath drop the gloves not even a minute into the game. The first goal came late in the first as Wheeling's Adam Krause poked the puck away from the Beast attack, starting a 2-on-1, and finished with pass to Sahir Gill who slotted it home.
The Nailers wasted no time as the second period began with Jarrett Burton tapping in a Derek Army rebound on the power play, and Connor Leen firing home a Riley Brace pass to make it 3-0. Midway into the period, Burton put another past Beast goaltender Eddie Pasquale to get his second of the night.
Things started to change late into second as the Beast looked more solid in the back and sharper in front of goal. The Beast were attacking the net but could not get the puck past Franky Palazzeseuntil a Jeff Brown flick dropped in front of Tim Billingsley who finally beat the goalie with a backhander through the legs for his first goal for the Beast.
The game finished with a final Nailers' goal by Clark Seymour in the third after the Beast pulled Pasquale on the power play in favour of an extra attacker. Seymour's goal finished the night with a Nailers win 5-1 over the Beast.
Franky Palazzese played a major role in Nailers win over the Beast with 22 saves, while Pasquale played a great game with 24 saves to his name.
Notes: Three Stars: 1) Jarret Burton 2) Franky Palazzese 3) Derek Army. The Beast return to Brampton with the Wheeling Nailers trailing not far behind for a 3PM game at the Powerade Centre tomorrow afternoon.
