Froese Makes NHL Debut

CINCINNATI, OH- Former Cincinnati Cyclone forward Byron Froese (Pronounced Frayze) made his National Hockey League (NHL) debut on Saturday night for the Toronto Maple Leafs. The Winkler, MAN, native logged 12:50 of ice time in Toronto's 5-3 loss to the Montreal Canadiens.
"We are excited for Byron for making the step to the NHL," said Cyclones Head Coach Matt MacDonald. "He was a big part in the run we had to the 2014 Kelly Cup Finals, and has worked extremely hard. It's great to see a player and person like Byron the this opportunity."
Froese spent parts of the last two seasons with the Cyclones, accounting for 24 points (8g, 16a) in 17 games last season, and 21 points (11g, 10a) in 25 games in 2013-2014. Froese also had a stellar post season in 2013-2014, totaling eight goals and 17 assists in 23 playoff games, helping lead the Cyclones to Game 6 of the 2014 Kelly Cup Finals.
A 2009 fourth round selection of the Chicago Blackhawks in 2009, Froese has, in addition to the Maple Leafs, suited for five teams since turning pro in 2011-2012, appearing in 231 games, and tallying 57 goals and 85 assists for 142 total points.
