Quad City Mallards News Release

Mallards Notes

Last Night

Raphael Bussieres scored the third period game winner and added a late empty net goal and Brody Hoffman made 25 saves in his professional debut as the host Mallards defeated the Tulsa Oilers 5-3.

Splitsville

The Mallards last night rebounded from Friday's 1-0 loss to the Oilers to earn a split of their two game set with Tulsa.

High Five

The Mallards bounced back from being shut out Friday evening by scoring a season high five goals last night.

Home Sweet Home

After Friday's defeat left them without a win in their last eight home openers (0-7-1), the Mallards last night secured victory in their second home game of the season for the fourth year in a row.

Spread the Wealth

Bussieres was one of five Mallards to record multiple points last night: Darren McMillian led the way with three assists; Logan Nelson and Miles Koules both had a goal and an assist; and Olivier Archambault picked up two assists.

Logan's Run

Nelson has scored four goals in the Mallards' first four games and, dating back to last season, 12 goals in his last 12 games.

Firsts

Koules last night scored his first career goal. The rookie has recorded four points (one goal and three assists) in his first four pro games. Sam Warning recorded his first career point- an assist- last night.

Trifecta

McMillan last night notched three points in a game in North America for the first time in his career. Last night also marked the first time he registered more than one point in a game since he collected two assists on March 17, 2013 in a 6-0 Mallard home win over Missouri.

Between the Pipes

Each of the Mallards' two wins this season has featured a Quad City goaltender making his professional debut. Hoffman earned victory last night in his first pro game after Steve Michalek posted a win while making his first career start in the Mallards' October 16 season opener in Allen.

Special Teams

Guilllaume Gelinas last night scored his and the Mallards' second power play goal of the season. The Mallards now rank fourteenth in the ECHL on the power play (13.3 percent) and are tied for sixteenth in penalty killing (85.7 percent).

On October 17 in Wichita, the Mallards fell 5-4 in a shootout in the first of their seven meetings this season with the Thunder. The Mallards have gone 13-17-2 all-time against Wichita. The Mallards have gone 7-8-0 against the Thunder on home ice.
