May 30, 2023 - Northwoods League (Northwoods)
Bismarck Larks News Release
Four hits were all the Larks needed to defeat the Huskies on back-to-back nights, as Bismarck improves to 2-0 and sweeps Duluth to start 2023. Like opening night, the Larks came back from a more than three-run deficit.
Down 4-1 in the bottom of the third inning, the Larks used four straight walks, a wild pitch, an RBI single from Trenton Rowan (Seward County CC), and an RBI walk from Kai Hori (New Orleans) to strike for three runs and take the lead. The Larks also scored in the fourth thanks to Rowan's second RBI hit of the game and tacked on two in the sixth from an RBI from Brayden Koenig (Cumberland) and a passed ball that scored C.J. Cepicky (University of Illinois Springfield). Duluth attempted to mount a rally in the top of the fifth, but the Larks turned a brilliant 4-6-3 double play, started thanks to a diving Kai Hori. That play would also go on to be the Fetzer Electric Play of the Game.
On the mound for the Larks, returner Alec Danen (Viterbo) got the win in his first start of the 2023 summer, going five complete innings and striking out two. Ricky Harrison ( followed him out of the bullpen with two innings of his own, striking out two and delivering the Metro Area Fastest Pitch of the Game at 95 mph. 2022's Lark of the Year, Justin Goldstein, struck out two of his own in the ninth, earning his first save in his first appearance. Duluth's David Stich (Angelo State) took the loss.
The Larks are back in action at Bismarck Municipal Ballpark for the third game of the six-game homestand of the year and to open a two-game series against the St. Cloud Rox. First pitch is set for 6:35 p.m. CT. Tomorrow is also First Responders Night, presented by 10 Code. The Larks are excited to celebrate the men and women of Bismarck and Mandan that keep our community safe - our law enforcement officers, firefighters, and emergency service personnel. Local first responders will go head-to-head all evening in special on-field games, promotions, and more!
