Lapointe To Man The Point
October 2, 2003 - ECHL (ECHL)
Augusta Lynx News Release
The Augusta Lynx kept the ball rolling today, signing defenseman Martin Lapointe to the club for the 2003-04 Season, adding more players on try out agreements, and even making a deal as well.
Lapointe has been a fixture on the Lynx blue line for the past three seasons, and will return for a fourth tour of duty with the club. He has appeared in 185 games for the Lynx over the past three seasons, notching 32 goals and 76 assists for 108 points. Despite playing in only 44 games last year, Lapointe fell just one short of his career high point total. His 38 points came on the strength of nine goals and 29 assists.
In addition to Lapointe, the Lynx have also added goaltenders Andy Kollar and BJ Strongman; defenseman Joe Pecoraro; and forwards Todd Bennett, Seamus Galligan, Todd Nowicki, Josh Bennett, and Yuriy Mikhalov to their training camp roster.
Finally, the Lynx sent Vince Malts to the Bakersfield Condors for cash considerations.
The Lynx will play two pre-season games against the expansion Gwinnett Gladiators this year. The first game is Friday, October 10th at Gwinnett and will be closed to the public. The second half of the home and home will return to the Augusta Richmond County Civic Center on Saturday, October 11th at 7:35 pm. Augusta will then open the 2003-04 Season against the Florida Everblades on Friday, October 17th at 7:35 pm. Single game seats go on sale this Saturday, October 4th at 10 am through the Civic Center Box Office, all TicketMaster locations, on line at www.TicketMaster.com, or charge by phone at (706) 828-7700.
