Pride Announce Training Camp Schedule, Roster
October 2, 2003 - ECHL (ECHL)
Myrtle Beach Thunderboltz News Release
FLORENCE, SC â The Florence Pride, proud members of the ECHL, announced today their schedule and roster for this season's training camp.
Players will start reporting to Florence on Friday, and then have physicals and receive their equipment on Saturday. The first on-ice session of this year's camp is on Sunday at 9:00 a.m.
Practices will continue throughout the week, starting at 9:00 a.m. Monday through Wednesday, and at 9:45 a.m. on Thursday. On Friday, the Pride will have a pre-game skate at 10:00 a.m. in preparation for that night's pre-season contest in Columbia against the Inferno. The following night, Saturday, October 11, the Pride will host the Inferno in the only home pre-season game this year.
As of today, there are 18 players on the Pride training camp roster. Two players remain in AHL camps: goaltender Matt Underhill is in camp with the Manchester Monarchs, while Mike Torney remains with the Pride's AHL affiliate, the Norfolk Admirals. The Pride are expecting to receive several more players from Norfolk over the next week.
In addition to Underhill and Torney, there are five other players on the roster who played with the Pride last season: goaltender Rob Anderson, left wing Allan Sirois, center Kyle Kidney, right wing Wes Goldie and defenseman Ryan Knox.
Two players on the Pride roster have won ECHL championships. Veteran center Victor Gervais owns two championship rings, winning with the Hampton Roads Admirals in 1992 and 1998. Gervais returns to North America this season after spending the last five seasons with the Frankfurt Lions in the German DEL. The other player with a championship ring is Jade Galbraith, who was a member of last season's ECHL champion Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies. He was acquired by the Pride in a trade earlier in the summer for Preston Mizzi.
Full-season tickets, mini-packages and flex-plan vouchers for the 2003-2004 season are still available. For more information, or to place your order, visit the Pride offices, located at the Florence Civic Center, or call (843) 669-7825.
The Pride open their seventh season in Florence on Saturday, October 18, hosting the Columbia Inferno at 7:30. Group tickets for all 36 Pride home games are now available. To book your group outing at a Pride game, call (843) 669-7825.
