Sea Wolves Sign Prolific Point Producer
October 2, 2003 - ECHL (ECHL)
Mississippi Sea Wolves News Release
BILOXI, Miss. â Mississippi Sea Wolves coach and director of hockey operations Bob Woods announced on Thursday that veteran center Louis Dumont (LEW-ee DEW-mohnt) has signed a one-year contract.
Dumont, 30, is among the all-time ECHL career leaders in several categories. He ranks third with 670 ECHL points, sits second overall with 414 assists, his 256 goals ranks seventh and 562 games played is also seventh on the all-time ECHL list. In 68 games last season with the Pensacola Ice Pilots, Dumont notched 20 goals and picked up 51 assists for 71 points to go with 97 penalty minutes. The 5-foot-10, 180-pound native of Calgary, Alberta is in his 10th professional season and 10th year in the ECHL. In 2001-02, Dumont led the ECHL with 70 assists and 102 points while playing for Pensacola. He was also named All-ECHL First Team Center in 2001-02 and selected as a starter at center for the 2002 ECHL All-Star Game.
"I'm really excited to sign with Mississippi," said Dumont. "The Sea Wolves have a quality core of players and quality throughout the organization. The work ethic and the attitude is top notch and I want to be part of a championship team in Mississippi.
"Dumont brings a lot of skill and experience," said Woods. "Louis has a desire to win and he's going to be a big piece of the puzzle for the Sea Wolves to continue to be successful. It's going to be great to have him on our bench, rather than the opposition.
The puck drops on the Sea Wolves eighth ECHL season on Friday, October 17 at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum in Biloxi against the Louisiana IceGators.
Season seat packages, flex plans and discounted group tickets are on sale by calling 228-275-WOLF.
