LACKLUSTER POWER PLAY

December 17, 2017 - ECHL (ECHL)
Manchester Monarchs News Release

Ranked last in the league, the Jacksonville power play has mustered only six goals on 81 power-play opportunities. The 7.4% success rate is 2.7 % lower than the Utah Grizzlies who rank second to last. Jacksonville will have their work cut out for them facing a Monarchs penalty kill that ranks 3rd in the league killing 88.5% of their penalties. The Monarchs penalty kill has allowed one goal in their last five games, going 20-for-21 during that span.

BEAT THEM EARLY

In all four of Jacksonville's wins this season, the Icemen led after the first 20 minutes of play, going 4-2-1-0 in that scenario. The first period has been the best period this year for Jacksonville, outscoring opponents, 21-14, while they have been outscored by 21 goals in the final two periods. The Monarchs have allowed league low 13 goals in the first period and have trailed only four times this season heading into the second period.

CONTINUE THE STREAK

The Monarchs seven-game winning streak is the longest active winning streak in the league and is one game short of the season long eight-game winning streak by the Greenville Swamp Rabbits. Dating back to a 2-1 shootout victory over the Grizzlies, Manchester has also won four straight road games during the seven-game stretch. During the winning streak, the Monarchs have allowed only 1.43 goals against per game.

FEELING RIGHT AT HOME

Jacksonville's Alexandre Goulet has scored at least one point in all eight home games he's played in this season for the Icemen. Dating back to their home opener on October 14th, Goulet has racked up 13 points on five goals and eight assists. Goulet ranks second on the team with 20 points, two behind Emerson Clark (22), and is tied for the team lead with a +5 rating on the season.
