Walleye Notes Three straight at home: After starting the season by winning each of its first seven home contests, the Walleye were stopped 5-2 by Fort Wayne on Wednesday which led to three straight losses for the week. The last time the Walleye dropped a trio of consecutive home games was February 1 through February 4, 2017. Toledo went 9-0-2 over the next 11 home games following that skid.
Huntington Center Rocking: Ten home games in and the Walleye have reached the sellout plateau in nine of those contests, posting a sellout in two of the three games this past week. The Walleye continue to lead the ECHL with an average of 7,596. With 26 home contests left the Walleye have a chance to break last year's sellout record with 20 in one season.
PK leads the way: Even though the Walleye dropped three straight over the last week, Toledo continues to keep teams at bay on the power play boasting the top penalty kill unit in the ECHL at 91.7%. Over the past three games, the Walleye stopped all eight power plays against and have allowed just 7 power plays goals all season long.
Two times two times two: Toledo scored two goals in all three games last week. Mike Borkowski scored both of Toledo's goals on Wednesday while Davis Vandane did the same trick on Friday night. No one could keep that up on Saturday as Erik Bradford and Kyle Bonis each had one goal.
Three in three weekend ahead: The Walleye will get busy starting with a Friday night road contest north of the border at Brampton. Toledo defeated the Beast 3-1 in the previous meeting in November. Saturday night Toledo is back home to host Atlanta in the first meeting of the year between the two before the Kalamazoo Wings coming to town for a Sunday evening affair. The Gladiators are 7-4-0 on the road heading into this week. A two-goal night from A.J. Jenks propelled the Walleye to a 5-2 win on November 4 in the only other meeting between Toledo and Kalamazoo .
Walleye Player of the Week:
Ryan Obuchowski (0 goals - 2 assists 2 points)
Walleye Goaltender of the Week:
Matej Machovsky (0-2-0, 4.04 GAA, .869 save %)
