Indy's Tomkins named CCM ECHL Goaltender of the Week

PRINCETON, N.J. - Matt Tomkins of the Indy Fuel is the CCM ECHL Goaltender of the Week for Dec. 4-10.

The 23-year-old went 2-0-0 with a 1.50 goals-against average and a save percentage of .967 in two appearances last week.

A native of Sherwood Park, Alberta, Tomkins stopped 48 shots in a 3-2 win against Wheeling on Friday and followed that up by making 40 saves in a 7-1 victory over Wichita on Saturday.

Tomkins, who is under contract to Rockford of the American Hockey League, is 3-0-0 in four appearances for the Fuel this season with a 1.45 goals-against average and a save percentage of .962.

Prior to turning pro, Tomkins played four seasons at Ohio State University where he appeared in 67 career games posting an overall record of 28-26-7 with three shutouts, a 3.03 goals-against average and a save percentage of .898.

Runners Up: Joel Martin, Kalamazoo (3-0-0, 1.67 GAA, .932 save pct.), Charles Williams, Manchester (2-0-0, 1.01 GAA, .962 save pct.) and Parker Milner, South Carolina (3-0-0, 1.66 GAA, .940 save pct.).

Also Nominated: Callum Booth (Florida), Michael Houser (Fort Wayne), Ryan Faragher (Idaho), Mark Dekanich (Reading), Matej Machovsky (Toledo), Jake Hildebrand (Tulsa), Kevin Carr (Utah) and Adam Morrison (Wheeling).
