
L.V. 51s Conclude 2006 Season With Four Home Games Against Fresno

LAS VEGAS: The Las Vegas 51s professional baseball team of the Pacific Coast League (PCL), Triple-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers, will return to Cashman Field to conclude the 2006 season with a four-game series against the Fresno Grizzlies, Triple-A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants, from Friday-Monday, September 1-4. The first two games of the series will be played at 7:05 p.m. and the final two games of the season will be matinee games at 12:05 p.m. on Sunday, September 3 and on Labor Day (Monday, September 4).
The 51s, under manager Jerry Royster, are currently on a season long 13-game road trip that will conclude on Thursday at Colorado Springs. After Thursday's game, Las Vegas will complete a stretch of 25 of 29 road games from August 2-31. The 51s, 64-74, are in third place in the Pacific Conference Southern Division.
The Las Vegas franchise reached the 300,000 plateau in "home" attendance for the 24th consecutive season (1983-2006). Las Vegas' total now stands at 339,840 in 68 dates for an average of 4,998. The total is the most since Las Vegas began its affiliation with the Dodgers in 2001. The team surpassed last season's total of 334,485 (4,645 average) which was the highest single season mark since the 1999 campaign (339,702). The team is now on pace to hit the 350,000 mark for the first time since the 1993 season. The 1993 total was 386,310 (71 dates/5,441) and the team record was set in 1992 at 387,815 (72 dates/5,386).
The opener of the four-game series is Friday, September 1 and Fernando Valenzuela Bobblehead Night will be presented. The first 2,500 fans in attendance will receive a bobblehead of this former Dodger great. Valenzuela was the 1981 Rookie of the Year and 1981 Cy Young Award Winner. He became the first player in Major League history to be named Rookie of the Year and Cy Young Award winner in the same season. He is in his fourth season as the color commentator for the Dodgers Spanish-radio broadcasts. This season marks the 25th Anniversary of the Dodgers World Series Championship Team (defeated the New York Yankees, 4-games-to-2).

Fan Appreciation Night and the final "Fireworks Spectacular" will be presented on Saturday, September 2. The post season player awards will also be announced just prior to the post game firework show. The awards include the annual Mayor's Trophy (MVP as voted on by the fans), MVP by the coaching staff and the Community Service Award. Fan Appreciation Night will feature over $6,000 in gifts to be given away that includes dinners, shows, baseball memorabilia and two tickets to anywhere that Southwest Airlines flies.
The authentic historic "Dodger Stadium Yellow Seats" will also be raffled off on Saturday. The raffle began on May 12 and a lucky fan will win the pair of seats. John Fredericks of KVBC-TV 3 (NBC) will serve as the master of ceremonies and will draw the winner of the Dodger Seat Raffle during the sixth inning and the announcement will be made in the seventh inning. Fredericks will also be available to sign autographs and will have his "JorVinci" t-shirts (named after his dog Jordan) for sale to benefit the local animal shelters.
Tickets for the final four home games can be purchased at the Cashman Field box office. The box office is open Monday-Friday from Noon to 4:30 p.m. Tickets can also be purchased through TicketMaster (474-4000, www.ticketmaster.com). TicketMaster outlets are located at Smith's Food & Drug, Tower Records and Robinsons-May, located at The Fashion Show & The Galleria Mall.
The individual game tickets for the 72-game home season are priced at $7.00 (general admission), $9.00 (reserved), $10.00 (plaza) and $12 (field). The traditional $2.00 discount for Military personnel is offered on plaza, reserved and G.A. seats throughout the season.
