August 30, 2006 - The New Orleans Zephyrs defeated the visiting Omaha Royals on Wednesday by a score of 5-4.

Relief pitcher Travis Hughes (2-6) got the win after giving up only one run (it was unearned) on two hits in three innings for New Orleans.

Zephyrs starting pitcher Kip Bouknight allowed three runs on six hits in five innings of play.

Zephyrs right fielder George Lombard went 2-4 on the night and had the game-winning RBI on a single that drove in left fielder Tyrell Godwin in the eighth inning.

Center fielder Kenny Kelly went 2-4 also with two RBI for New Orleans.

Omaha relief pitcher Ed Yarnall (2-3) , a former Zephyr and LSU Tiger, got the loss after giving up one run on one hit in the eighth inning.

The win gives the Zephyrs a 2-1 edge in the series. The teams will finish off their four-game series on Thursday in a game scheduled for 7:00 PM CT.
