Potential Playoff Preview At Greer This Weekend As Sounds Wrap Up 2006 Regular Season
August 30, 2006 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Nashville Sounds News Release
The first-place Nashville Sounds return home on Friday for the final homestand of the regular season to face off against the American Southern Division Champions Round Rock Express (AAA-Astros) in a potential preview of the first round of the upcoming PCL playoffs.
The Sounds currently hold a three-game lead in the Pacific Coast League American Northern Division with six games remaining in the 2006 season.
The Sounds begin the homestand on Friday with game one of the four-game series. The first pitch is slated for 7 p.m. with the gates opening at 5:30. As fans exit the ballpark, they will receive a free loaf of bread, compliments of Sara Lee Bread.
Saturday marks the final Shoney's Fireworks show of the season, which will immediately follow the on-field action. The gates will open at 4:30 with the first pitch being thrown out at 6 p.m.
The third contest between the two teams takes place on Sunday with the first pitch scheduled for 6 p.m. Local Scouting groups will be in attendance. Scouts can receive a $10 ticket that includes one ticket to the game, one hot dog, and one drink. To reserve your Scout group's spot, contact Nick Barkley at (615) 242-4371 ext. 102 or e-mail scouts@nashvillesounds.com with your requests.
A noon Labor Day contest will mark the finale of the 2006 regular season as well as the last H.G. Hill Monday of the year at Greer Stadium. Fans that present a H.G. Hill receipt at the box office window will receive one free ticket with the purchase of another ticket, up to four free tickets. It will also be Dollar Dog Day at the ballpark; hot dogs will be available for a buck all afternoon.
If Nashville can capture the PCL American Conference Northern Division title, they would host the first two games of the best-of-five conference finals against the American Conference Southern Division champion Round Rock Express (AAA-Astros) on Wednesday, September 6 & Thursday, September 7 at Greer Stadium.
In the event that the Sounds advance to the PCL Championship Series, Greer Stadium would play host to the final three games (if necessary) against the winner of the Pacific Conference on the weekend of Friday, September 15 through Sunday, September 17.
Individual playoff tickets, as well as group packages, are currently on sale. Call (615) 242-4371 ext. 2 or visit the Sounds' website at www.nashvillesounds.com to order or for more information.
